Shiatsu massage (also known as Acupressure Massage) is a dynamic hands-on healing system, originating in Japan, which uses the power of touch, pressure and gentle stretching techniques to balance the body’s energy system, our emotions and the functions of our internal organs. Based on Oriental Medicine Theory (like acupuncture), this massage can help in a wide range of conditions – from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. It is a deeply relaxing, yet invigorating therapy and regular sessions can help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives. It is a lovely nourishing therapy to have during pregnancy and can be performed in side-lying position. Many of the stretching techniques employed are very similar to Thai yoga .
Our Shiatsu Massage Therapist, Fiona, has been practising shiatsu for more than 13 years after completing 3 years training with the European Shiatsu School and has been fully accredited by the UK Shiatsu Society. In this interview (July 2019) by the Shiatsu Society you will find out more about Fiona, what made her choose Shiatsu and her plans for the future.
We are confident that we will be opening soon when you will be able to make an appointment with Fiona and experience the many benefits of Shiatsu Massage (Acupressure Massage).
