What causes asthma?
It is not fully understood what the root cause is. However, we do know that children with allergies like eczema, hayfever or food allergies are up to four times more likely to develop asthma. A family history of either of these also increases your risk. Air pollution, including smoking, increases the risk of developing asthma. Premature children, or those of low birth weight, are at higher risk of developing asthma.

People who are very overweight and those with female sex hormones have a higher risk of contracting severe symptoms.

What triggers an asthma attack?
Everyone has their own triggers but these can include exercise, allergens and changes in weather conditions.

What are the symptoms of asthma?
Asthma symptoms include wheezing, breathlessness, coughing or tightness in the chest.

What are the risks of living with asthma?
Asthma is a chronic condition, so it’s important to manage the symptoms to limit further long-term damage to your body. Inflammation of the lungs can cause irreversible scarring. Having trouble breathing at night can really affect your sleep quality and prgnant women with severe, uncontrolled asthma can suffer serious complications.

Can you be cured from asthma?
Typically not, however some children do grow out of asthma.

Natural treatment for asthma:
Homeopathic remedies can help to reduce the symptoms of asthma.

Some of the most commonly used remedies include:

  1. Aconite: the attack comes on suddenly, often after being out in a cold wind, usually around midnight. The chest will feel constricted as though there is a band around it, alongside much anxiety and fear.

  2. Arsenicum: wheezing and whistling, restless and fearful, and worse at 1-2am. The chest feels like it’s burning. Anything coughed up is white or yellow and tastes salty.
  3. Ipecac: gasps for air with a wheezing cough, nausea and gagging. The face may be pale with a blue tinge around the mouth.
  4. Nat-S: often comes on in damp weather, the coughing fits are worse at 4-5am, and the mucus is green and thick.
  5. Pulsatilla: thick yellow mucus, which is worse in the morning, when waking. These people tend to be feeling emotional, and more so at night. Often needed after taking antibiotics or steroids.

Recent client testimonial:

Lizzie, Didcot:

“Our son at just two years old, was constantly picking up every illness going and when the cough in particular arrived it was there to stay. He really struggled with his breathing, had a frequent inhaler and was sent to hospital 5 times for it in just a short space of time. He also really struggled with his eczema.

When the Doctor prescribed 2/3 time daily inhalers (including steroids) I knew I wanted to try a different approach. We reached out to Ali and wow what a difference we have found – not only does he now have improved eczema, fight off infections so much quicker (I mean all toddlers will still get them!) but we have not had to use the inhaler once since we started the Homeopathic Treatment Programme.”
