According to the ancient writings on Chinese Medicine we should adjust our lifestyle and live in harmony with the seasons in order to stay healthy… One of the oldest texts, The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Chinese Medicine has this to say about Spring.flower-1814_640

“The three months of the spring season bring about the revitalization of all things in nature. It is the time of birth. This is when heaven and earth are reborn. During this season it is advisable to retire early. Arise early also and go walking in order to absorb the fresh, invigorating energy. Since this is the season in which the universal energy begins anew and rejuvenates.”

“On the physical level it is good to exercise more frequently and wear loose-fitting clothing. This is the time to do stretching exercises to loosen up the tendons and muscles.’

This is the time to be more active, the Spring energy is energizing so it’s time to get out and move !

Spring is also the time to plant seeds. Literally but also figuratively – What do you want to accomplish this year? How can you plant the seeds of a successful year? Now is the time to focus on what you want and begin taking steps to get there.

In the spirit of Spring, Susannah is taking part in a 24 hour team exercise class at the Barn Fitness Centre in Cholsey on Saturday 29th April. The event is in aid of My Cancer My Choices, a local charity that provides complementary health care for cancer patients at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Bracknell Health Space. The charity is fundraising to be able to extend their offer to West Berkshire as well.
