As summer eventually arrives it is likely that sandals will be dusted down to replace other forms of footwear worn in the colder wetter months. This can cause a problem for feet however. For many, foot biomechanics benefit from the support offered by footwear and this support is often lacking in many types of sandals. Feet can therefore have problems adapting to increased sandal wearing.
This can be even more problematic where orthotics or shoe inserts are worn as most types of sandals will not accommodate inserts/orthoses. If you start experiencing problems during this change of footwear please note that there are now brands of sandals that incorporate support within their design and while they may not be a perfect replacement for orthoses they will offer you much more support then basic flat sandals.
Examples include Vionics and Strive but there are many more. If you would like any more information on this or other foot related problems please do not hesitate to contact us.
