What should you expect during an ultrasound assessment?

Once you are in the therapy room you will be asked about you and the condition causing you pain. The area will then need to be examined so you should be prepared to remove your shoes and socks.

We will use ultrasound to assist us in our clinic examination. Some water-based gel will be applied to the area needing to be looked at and we will then move the probe/transducer over the painful area looking for any signs of injury or damage. This process takes around 15 – 20 minutes of the assessment and should not be uncomfortable.

At Theale Wellbeing Centre, our specialist podiatry team, will use ultrasound to help identify and treat conditions such as:-

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Ligament damage
  • Foot Bursitis
